Price $2500 ABOUT THE ARTIST Everardus Mirani(1810 - 1881) was born in Amsterdam. He is known for his landscapes, forest landscapes and winter landscapes. He was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. His palette is mostly in shades of brown, grey and white. His work is very fine and detailled.

This English landscape oil painting, circa 1850, depicts a man fishing on the River Thames. The canvas painting measures 9" high x 12" wide, and the frame measures 16" high x 19" wide. This English print is titled, "A View From Gibraltar of the Spanish Batteries Erected in the Late Siege Before That Garrison". A French matte surrounds the print in muted red frame. The frame measures 27” long x 17 ½” high and surrounds a handsome military scene. It was purchased from Parker Gallery, London England 1973. Price: $200.00

These two parchment leaves (with writing on both sides) are from an illuminated 15th century Latin Bible. They measure 6-1/2"H x 4-3/4"W. Purchased in 1980 from Book Stall #113, along the Seine River in Paris, France. Price: $100.00 for the pair

This Fraktur was typeset and hand colored by Wilhelm Lepper of Hanover, PA. The work is a certificate on paper dated April 30, 1802. It measures 13” high and 16” wide. The purchase was made in 1980 at Toms Brook Antiques, Toms Brook, VA. Price $500.00

Mock Bird By Mark Catesby PA25

This quarto sized first edition print of a Mock Bird was drawn and hand colored in his “Natural History of the Carolinas, Florida and the Bahama Islands” [England, circa 1731]. Bird is on pink dogwood - the first time pink dogwood was documented. It is matted, framed and measures 22” wide x 19” high. This print comes with its quarto size description page written in English and French. It was purchased from Rob Hicklin, Musgrove Mill, Spartanburg, SC, in 1981. Price: $3,000.00

This quarto sized third edition print of a Bahama Duck [circa 1771] was in the “Natural History of the Carolinas, Florida and the Bahama Islands” by Mark Catesby. It is matted, framed and measures 22” wide x 19” high. It was purchased from Rob Hicklin, Musgrove Mill, Spartanburg, SC, in 1981. Price: $2,500.00

Dutch Pastoral Oil Painting PA35

This Eighteenth Century oil on canvas depicts a pastoral scene in the Dutch style of Aelbert Cuyp (1620-1691).The canvas measures 24” high x 38” wide. The surrounding imposing wide black frame, adding to its authenticity as Dutch and from the Old Masters Sale, measures 32” high x 38” wide. Artist is unknown. Restoration was made by House of Heydenhryk, NYC. Sotheby’s sales sticker and chalk marks are on the back. We believe it was Lot 5411 from the chalk marks. It was purchased at Sotheby’s Old Masters Sale, London, England, 1983. The oil painting is in excellent condition. Price: $9,000.00

Coaching Scene by James Pollard ( 1792- 1867) PA37

This oil on canvas by James Pollard, England’s best coaching scene painter, is dated 1839. Inscribed on back is the title “On the way to G-rod Hunt”. The canvas measures 18” high x 24” wide. The newer red frame measures 22 ½”high x 29” wide. It was purchased at C. G. Sloan and Company, Washington, DC in 1985. A valuation done by Sotheby’s “Heirloom Discovery Day“ at VMFA (Virginia Museum of Fine Art) told us to put $75,000 - $150,000 insurance on the work. The painting was chosen by The Collector’s Circle at VMFA for their juried exhibit in 1990. Price: $20,000

Portraits Of Lord And Lady Newdigate PA39

This pair of portraits feature Lord and Lady Newdigate of Arbury Hall, Chilvers Coton, (Nuneaton), England. The oil pastel portraits were made by Mary Ann Evans 1819-1880 (a.k.a. George Eliot). Attached to Lord Newdigate's portrait enclosed in a pocket behind the painting is the "Telegraph" newspaper article dated December 6,1980. Lord Roger Newdigate, 5th Baronet (1719-1806) married, firstly Sophia Conyers in 1743, and secondly Hesther Margaret Munday in 1776. Both marriages were childless. Lord Newdigate is immortalized in fiction in George Eliot’s “Scenes of Clerical Life”. Eliot was born on the estate. Arbury Hall was built on the ruins of a 12th century Priory and stands in the midst of beautiful 18th century landscaped gardens surrounded by over 100 acres of lakes and parkland. It has been the home of the Newdigate family for over 400 years. This Elizabethan Mansion house was transformed into the Gothic style by Sir Roger Newdigate during second half of the 18th century. The pair of portraits was purchased from Antiques Warehouse, Richmond, VA in 1998. Price: $8,000.00

Japanese Rice Paper Folding Screen PA40

This 19th century Japanese rice paper folding screen depicts white cranes, clouds, and pine trees with gold paint in the background. Each of its four panels measures 24” wide by 53” high. It was purchased in 1985 at Gracie & Co., New York City. Price: $7,000.00 Decorating tip: Hang this screen over a king size bed or over a sideboard for dramatic effect.

Portrait of Charles Cochrane PA49

This oil on canvas portrait of Charles Cochrane of Ochiltree, Scotland, circa 1730 was painted by William Aikman (1682-1731). The painting measures 30 inches high and 25 inches wide. The frame is 37.5 inches high and 32.5 inches wide. Lord Cochrane never married. He was known for the great houses he built and his grand style of entertaining. Lord Cochrane was the uncle of Charles Cochrane, aide-de-camp to British Major General Charles Earl Cornwallis at the battle of Yorktown, VA , 1781. The British surrender ended the Revolutionary War. The painting was previously owned by Sir Arthur Eliott BT, Redheugh Newcastleton, Roxburghshire, Scotland. It was purchased at Christies Company, London, England in 1978, Lot #54. Price: $2500.00
